Withdraw power tariff hike, says samiti

Description

Opposing the increase in power tariff by 40 paise per unit across all categories, the All India Kisan Sangharsh Samanvaya Samiti has demanded that the tariff hike be withdrawn. District president of the samiti Moula Mulla and All India Kisan Sabha district president Sharanabasappa Mamshetty addressing a press conference here on Wednesday stated that though the electricity supply companies had sought a hike of Rs. 1.26 per unit, the Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) has burdened the consumers by increasing power tariff by 40 paise per unit. They also sought 12 hours of three-phase power supply during the day for the agriculture sector and replacement of old transformers. The samiti would submit a memorandum to all legislators and intensify the agitation across the State if the hike in power tariff is not withdrawn immediately.
