Farmers in both the Telugu States are geared up to stage massive protests under the aegis of All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordinating Committee (AIKSCC) on Sunday demanding repeal of the three farm ordinances and the Electricity Act brought by the Centre besides a rollback of the fuel price hike. In a statement on Saturday, leaders of the coordinating committee said nearly 30 farmers’ organisations had come together to stage protests in nearly 5,000 villages across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Their plan of action includes burning copies of the three farm ordinances and the Electricity Act, discussions on the policies of the State and the Central governments and submitting memoranda to the officials concerned. The leaders alleged that the Modi government had failed in providing succour to the farmers and farm coolies in this difficult times of COVID-19 and the subsequent lockdowns. They said while the corporate firms were offered a massive package of Rs. 20 lakh crore, the poor farmer was left high and dry.
