In that case, even inverters cease to work.” He said though the consumers were paying the highest electricity rates in the country, they were getting poor service. In many areas of the city, residents can be seen sitting in their streets and using hand fans to keep them comfortable. “Inside, it is like an oven. Here in the street it is still comfortable,” said Vibha, an elderly woman in the Gawal Mandi area.Residents say that food items in refrigerators get spoiled due to power cuts and they sometimes are unable to get cold water.
