Zirakpur, October 11A day after a native of Himachal Pradesh was shot dead on VIP Road here following an altercation over the issue of overtaking, the CIA wing of the Mohali police arrested a close aide of the key suspect.The arrested suspect has been identified as Ramesh Kumar, who hails from Chamba district in Himachal Pradesh, and lives at a flat in Zirakpur. He is an associate of Happy Brar, who allegedly fired at the victim, Anil Thakur.Ramesh ran a car accessory shop in Phase VII. He was produced in a local court, which sent him to police remand. The police said the search was on to arrest the other six suspects in the case, adding that they hoped to arrest them soon. The incident took place on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday when a Faridkot native, Happy Brar, shot dead Anil Thakur (35), a native of Mandi. The victim was living at Kharar and is survived by his wife and a 10-month-old son.The police said they had some leads and were trying to trace the suspects. Meanwhile, the police are also questioning the victim’s friends to know more about the incident.
