‘Farm laws will affect the masses’

Party convener Prem Garg said the ‘anti-farmer black laws’ had been made to sell farmers to the capitalists. He said the BJP came into power making big promises for the welfare of the farmers, but rather than strengthening the MSP, they were crushing the soul of agriculture. TNSSpeakers underlined the “deadly” consequences of agrarian and electricity laws for the masses. “The laws are against the state’s autonomy and will increase the conflict between the Centre and the state. These laws will also eliminate the PDS system on which millions are dependent. The laws will intensify unemployment by eliminating permanent employees of the FCI and increasing contractualisation,” said Aman from PSU Lalkaar.The revision of the Essential Commodities Act would increase black marketing of products, resulting in inflation, speakers opined.“Further, speakers criticised the Modi government and the media for labelling the present struggle as fundamentalist and regionalist. Therefore, it is necessary to foil such attempts and exhibit solidarity with the present struggle,” said Manav, a city-based activist.
