The Bharti Kisan Union (BKU) (Lakhowal), along with other organisations, today protested against the Centre’s farm sector ordinances and blocked the National Highway-21 outside the Kharar bus stand.The protesters kept the highway blocked for around two hours, which caused inconvenience to commuters. It also led to a traffic jam near the spot.“This is not the right way to protest. Common man has to suffer a lot,” said a car driver.The protesters parked tractor-trailers on the road thereby blocking the traffic. The protesters said if any MP from Punjab supported the bill, they would not allow him/her to enter their village.They said the Agriculture Amendment Ordinance and the Power Amendment Bill were against the interests of farmers. These would be beneficial for big corporate and not for the farming sector.
