A 65-year-old woman from Lalru Mandi was home quarantined by the administration here today. The administration took this precautionary action after a 43-year-old doctor at a private hospital in Mohali who operated upon this woman tested positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday.As part of the preventive steps in the backdrop of the Covid-19 outbreak in the country, the 65-year-old woman has been kept under medical supervision as a precautionary measure. However, her family members, too, had also been advised to remain isolated inside their home.All these people had been asked to remain home quarantine and call the surveillance officer in case they start developing symptoms, said a health official. Meanwhile, the Health Department has deployed police officials and have barricaded the entire lane to restrict the entry of outsiders.Sukhwinder Singh, SMO, Lalru, said the woman living near Durga Devi temple in Lalru Mandi was suffering from illness for the past several days.The SMO said she was operated upon and later discharged from the hospital on March 24. The doctor, who operated upon the woman, tested Covid-19 positive.The SMO said they had not seen any Covid-19 symptoms in the patient but had been home quarantined as a precautionary measure. Tests would be conducted if she was found symptomatic.District epidemiologist Dr Harmandeep Kaur said the team also visited houses in the neighbourhood and all of them had been asked to remain inside. Regular updates would be taken to check whether the 65-year-old woman developed any symptoms. — OC
