Shimla, November 11The Himachal Kisan Sabha (HKS) today alleged that the government had shut down the Riyali paddy procurement centre in Kangra district because the BJP lost the Fathepur byelection recently. It threatened to launch an agitation if the centre was not made operational again soon.The sabha said that paddy was to be procured at all centres till November 30, but the Riyali centre in Fathepur was shut down much before the deadline at the behest of the government.“The centre has been removed from the portal without any prior information. The Food Corporation of India says that the farmer footfall is not enough at the centre, but the farmers say there is still much crop left in their fields,” said HKS president Kuldeep Tanwar.
