CHANDIGARH: Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa has sought a probe from a sitting judge to find out the actual cause of the incident in which a scheduled caste (SC) man from Tarn Taran was killed at Singhu border on Friday. Randhawa said this was a sensitive issue related to the religious beliefs of people and also associated with the farmers who had been peacefully protesting for almost a year against the draconian farm laws of the central government. “At this crucial juncture, it was very important to identify anti-social elements inciting religious sentiments and defaming the farmers agitation as these kind of desperate attempts aimed at sabotaging the most peaceful and well-disciplined agitation were already being made by some disgruntled elements,” said Randhawa. Randhawa, who also heads the state home department, said the Haryana government as well as police could not disassociate themselves from this incident as the responsibility of maintaining law and order lies with the concerned state government. He also questioned the Haryana Police for not making strict security arrangements at places where a large number of people were gathered and religious scriptures were kept.
