One year of enactment of new farm laws: Villagers pay tributes to ‘martyred’ farmers

Doraha, September 17A candlelight march was taken out here today by residents of various villages to offer tributes to the farmers who had died during the ongoing agitation against farm laws, while at the same time observing the day as ‘black day’ on the completion of one year of their enactment.They showed solidarity with those fighting at the Delhi borders for the cause of farmers and exhorted the youth to remain steadfast.Residents of 14 villages — Ghulal, Raule, Khatra, Madpur, Chailan, Dhande, Ladran, Baleon Punia, Bijlipur, Balala, Neelon, Dhindsa, Lal Kalan and Lopon — joined the candlelight march to pay tributes to the ‘martyrs’ and demand rightful due for the farming community.District president, BKU (Kadian), Hardeep Singh Giaspura, Sukhi Rohle, Kesar Singh, Manpreet Ghulal, Manpreet Rohle, Mohan Singh, Babbu Ghaghas, Jinder Ghulal, Amandeep Ghulal, Jathedar Khatra, Piara Singh, Balbir Singh, Jagpal Punia, Raghveer Dhande, Sunny Khatra, Charan Rohle, Gurmukh Singh, Gindi Ghulala, Maninder Happy, Gurpal Singh and others held candles in their hands to strongly condemn what they termed as ‘highly indifferent, uncaring and apathetic’ attitude of the Central Government towards the genuine demands of the farmers.“This march is a message for the farmers that in order to retain what is ours for centuries, we have to be strong, determined and steadfast and if need be, lay down our lives for the cause. Indifferent as the government seems to be for the past one year, the time has come when a big sacrifice has to be made to win over the war initiated for our own land and fields,” the protesters opined.The protesters raised slogans against the Union Government who they rued has made them stand on the verge of total collapse. “The role played by the Central Government is highly condemnable. The hidden crooked intentions of the government have been exposed to the world at large. It is still time that they take back these arbitrary laws to rebuild their confidence in the farming community and the public in general,” expressed the marchers.
