Won’t allow entry to any leader: Sangrur villagers

Description

Tribune News ServiceSangrur, September 10On a day when representatives of parties met SKM leaders, residents of various villages here further hardened their stand against the entry of politicians. At many places, WhatsApp groups are being created to mobilise support against politicians’ entry in villages.“We have been protesting for months. But neither the Centre nor BJP leaders from Punjab seem serious. Leaders of other parties have also failed us. We will not allow any politician to enter villages,” said Parmjit Singh, a protester.“We have started forming WhatsApp groups at village level to oppose the visit of leaders. Since elections are approaching fast, politicians want to visit villages only for votes,” said Gurdial Singh, another protester.Though largely farmers are united against the entry of all leaders, there are few, who support certain parties. They have started sitting at village entry points and are quick to share information with villagers about the arrival of any leader from parties they are opposed to. “The bitter fight between the supporters will not allow any leader to enter the villages,” said Dharminder Pashore, a BKU (Ugrahan) leader.
