Farmers gherao BJP leader Surjit Kumar Jyani over agricultural laws

It was unfair on part of farmers to prevent me from attending a social event. — Surjit Kumar Jyani, BJP LeaderAs soon as the farmers came to know about the visit of Jyani, who had come to attend a marriage at a palace there, BKU (Dakaunda) activists, led by its district president Harish Nadha, reached the site and gheraoed it for more than two hours.Sensing trouble, a large number of police personnel, including SSP Deepak Hilori reached the marriage palace and made the arrangements for a hassle-free exit of Jyani.Nadha said farmers had warned Jyani not to visit Fazilka villages otherwise the administration shall be responsible for the consequences. When contacted, Jyani said he had gone to Ladhuka Mandi to attend the marriage of his gunman’s son. “It was unfair on part of the farmers to prevent me from attending a social event,” said Jyani.
