Braving heavy rain, political leaders cutting across party lines participated in the Bharat Bandh against the three farm laws in Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts. Traffic was held up on NH-16 and on other major roads across the districts, with activists urging the motorists to extend their support to the bandh and stay off the roads. The Chamber of Commerce extended its support to the bandh, with shops and commercial establishments staying closed in Vizianagaram. INTUC-Vizianagaram senior leader Modili Srinivasa Rao told reporters that the three Farm Acts and four Labour Codes are detrimental to the interests of farmers and the labour workforce in India, and warned that the impact of these legislations would be felt even by the common man in the future. CITU leaders D. Govinda Rao and T. Tirupati Rao staged a protest at Seven Roads Junction and at the Head Post Office to oppose the ‘anti-people’ policies of the Centre. Schools closed All schools remained closed while APSRTC buses stayed off the road, extending support to the bandh. All government offices remained open and the weekly grievance cell was conducted by district officials in the Collectorate and divisional administrative headquarters. In Rajamahendravaram city, the Chamber of Commerce extended full support to the bandh by closing down the business establishments while theatres stopped screening one show. Leaders of Left parties and AITUC State secretary Ravulapalli Ravindranath and CITU State secretary A.V. Nageswara Rao participated in the rally, condemning the farm policies and privatisation of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant. In Kakinada city, except Rythu Bazaars and hospitals, all business establishments and government officials remained closed throughout the day.
