It has been going on for the past 50 to 60 years. But the BJP is politicising this programme by displaying the pictures of their leaders on it.The farmers had a verbal spat with the police. In Gharaunda and Vikas Nagar, some of the locals also opposed the agitation of the farmers, leading to a tense situation.In Assandh and Nilokheri, farmers also opposed the visit of BJP leaders in such programmes. Meanwhile, some of the farmers were detained but they were later released by the police.The farmers alleged that through the distribution of ration, the BJP is doing politics to highlight their leaders.They were against the displaying of pictures of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala on the wheat bags given to the beneficiaries.“The distribution of ration is not a new programme. It has been going on for the past 50 to 60 years. But the BJP is politicising this programme by displaying the pictures of their leaders on it,” said Jagdeep Singh Aulakh, member of the state core committee of BKU (Charuni).“The government has spent lakhs of rupees on publicity instead of ensuring the quality of grain being distributed to people,” he added.On the other hand, Harvinder Kalyan said that nobody should object to the pictures of the PM and CM. He said the BJP is serving society. The purpose of this programme is to provide grain to each and every beneficiary in the district.
