Farmers today protested near Ramlila Bhawan, Jagadhri, where Transport Minister Mool Chand Sharma and Education Minister Kanwar Pal Gujjar, among others, were holding a meeting of the party’s district unit.Riding on tractors, the farmers tried to break the police barricades put up near Matka Chowk and enter the venue, but the police stopped them in their tracks.A clash between farmers and the police ensued. Some farmers and police personnel received minor injuries.The police reportedly took 26 farmers into preventive custody. They were released after a few hours.SP Kamaldeep Goyal confirmed this to the media. “A criminal case will be registered in connection with the protest,” he said.Subhash Gurjar of the BKU (Tikait) and Sanju Gundiana of the BKU (Charuni) said the protest in Jagadhri was held on the call of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM).“Until the three black farm laws are repealed, our protest will continue against the BJP-JJP leaders, ministers and legislators,” said Gurjar.The farmers had announced their plan to protest against the BJP’s meeting several days ago.
