As the farmers’ protest turned violent in various parts of the city, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) closed two corridors and 19 Metro stations on other corridors on Tuesday.Following directions from the Delhi Police, the DMRC closed its Green corridor (Inderlok to Mundka) as tension escalated on Tikri border and later closed the Grey corridor (Dwarka to Najafgarh).With protest at ITO turning violent and a large number of protesters entering the Red Fort, the Metro decided to close three stations namely Jama Masjid, Delhi Gate and ITO on the Violet line (Kashmere Gate to Raja Nahar Singh in Ballabhgarh).After the tension escalated at the Tikri borders, DMRC tweeted, “Entry/exit gates of all stations on the Green line are closed.” Tikri border falls on the Green line.Also Read: Tractor rally: Why protesting farmers digressed from the original routesDMRC officials said that the stations, especially those near the state borders have been closed following instructions from Delhi Police.A DMRC official said, “While all stations on the Green and Grey lines have been closed, other corridors are operational and a few stations have been closed.”The stations which have been closed by Delhi Metro on other corridors are: Samaypur Badli, Rohini Sector 18/19, Haiderpur Badli Mor, Jahangir Puri, Adarsh Nagar, Azadpur, Model Town, GTB Nagar, Vishwavidyalaya, Vidhan Sabha and Civil Lines, ITO, Delhi Gate, Jama Masjid, Indraprastha, Dilshad Garden, Jhilmil and Mansarovar Park. DMRC officials said that services on the blue line (Noida city centre /Vaishali to Dwarka) are normal, just a few stations have been closed due to security concerns.Most of the Metro stations on the state borders have been closed.
