Trichy: Demanding to revoke farm bills and showing solidarity with protesting farmers in Delhi, more than 40 farmers’ associations under the banner of joint action committee of Tamil Nadu farmers’ associations staged a hunger strike at Chinthamani near Anna statue in Trichy on Wednesday.President of the joint action committee and president of Cauvery delta farmers’ association, Cauvery S Dhanapalan headed the hunger strike.Farmers, who participated in the protest along with the Desiya Thanninthiya Nathigal Inaippu Vivasayigal Sangam state president P Ayyakannu, staged a novel protest by lying down on the road posing as a dead body stating their demands.The hunger strikes prolonged till the evening. Earlier on December 19, the joint action committee was formed and had adopted a resolution to conduct the hunger strike on December 23.
