Amritsar: Farmers disrupt inaugural ceremony of BJP’s election office
Description
AMRITSAR: Members of the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee (KMSC) on Tuesday disrupted the inauguration ceremony of the BJP’s election office in New Amritsar. KMSC activists staged a dharna and raised slogans against the Centre for introducing the three farm laws, said KMSC state general secretary Sarwan Singh Pandher. Meanwhile, the BJP unit organised a function for the inauguration. BJP spokesman Janardhan Sharma said they had to cut the function short because of the farmers’ protest. “As scheduled, we performed havan yajna and inaugurated the office,” he said, adding that BJP supporters would keep their establishments and businesses open on Wednesday. Meanwhile, activists of various farmers’ organisations went around markets and urged people to ensure the success of the Bharat Bandh call on December 8. Pandher informed that a large contingent of farmers would leave for Delhi to support the farmers’ movement.
