Farmers' protest: In solidarity, Malwa women stitch flags

We need to intensify our protest to make the Centre relent. - Nirmal Kaur, Bathinda ProtesterThe Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), an umbrella body of over 40 farmer unions, has announced it will observe May 26 as ‘black day’ to mark six months of their protest at Delhi’s borders against the central farm laws.The BKU (Ekta Ugrahan) tweeted from its twitter handle: “Women activists of its farm organisation are making black flags to put on top of houses on May 26. A total of 1,000 flags have been sent to the Tikri border and preparing 800 for own villages.”Harinder Kaur Bindu, women wing president of BKU Ekta Ugrahan, said: “As there is partial lockdown, so it was decided in our state committee meeting that women activists will be stitching black flags in all districts and sending these to Tikri border and various villages”.BKU (Ekta Ugrahan) activist Charanjeet Kaur of Bucho Khurd said: “She along with her three friends stitched black flags, which have been sent to Tikri.”Even in the last few days, a large number of farmers in tractors, vehicles and motorcycles have gone to Delhi to participate in the protest from the region.Farmers in the region are fully geared up for the protest as they have prepared black flags on their own in large numbers. Even all other farmers unions have also prepared and distributed these flags in villages.
