Protesters pay tribute to Ajit Singh

Description

On the call of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha, farmers of the district today observed “Pagri Sambhal Diwas” in the memory of Shaheed Bhagat Singh’s uncle Ajit Singh. They paid tribute to Ajit Singh, who had launched the Pagri Sambhal Jatta movement in 1907 in the pre-Partition Punjab against the anti-farm laws enacted by the British. During the programme, all farmers sported turbans and appealed to the Centre to repeal the three new agricultural laws. “We will continue our protest until the three laws are revoked,” said Jagdeep Singh Aulakh, a member of the BKU (Charuni). Meanwhile, Mundigarhi village resident Sajid Khan, who destroyed his 5-acre wheat crop yesterday in protest against the three laws, joined the protesting farmers here and appealed to them to not destroy their crops. — TNS
