Another Fazilka farmer has lost his life while taking part in the agitation against the new farm laws. Bhajan Singh (65), a resident of border village Chotta Mumbeki, died at the Tikri border on Thursday evening.Sources said Bhajan Singh, who owns nearly 2.5 acres of land in the village, died after suffering a heart attack. A large number of villagers took part in the cremation held at his native village on Friday evening. The sources said it was Bhajan Singh’s fourth visit to the Tikri border. He had left for Delhi to take part in the dharna about 10 days ago.Meanwhile, activists of BKU (Mansa) and BKU (Kadian) held a demonstration outside the DC office, demanding compensation and job for the family of the deceased farmer. The protest was led by Bouk Singh and Major Singh, state president and general secretary, respectively of the BKU (Mansa); and Boota Singh, state press secretary, BKU (Kadian). Boota Singh said the unions demanded compensation of Rs 5 lakh and a job to a family member of the deceased farmers and also waiver of the bank loan.He said earlier officials refused to pay heed to their demands, but later the Fazilka SDM assured compensation for the family.
