Tribune News ServiceFaridkot, February 17In an utterly dismal show of their performance as political entities, eight candidates of SAD, five of BJP and four of AAP failed to get even a single vote in the MC elections in Kotkapura town of the district.The Congress, SAD, AAP and BJP contested on all 29 MC seats in the town. Even two children of Sunita Garg, the district convener of BJP, could not win the elections on their seats in Kotkapura.All 29 candidates of BJP could corner only 1,055 (2.3 per cent) of total 46,040 votes polled. While five candidates of BJP failed to get even a single vote, 12 polled less than 20 votes in their wards.The reason for some candidates getting no vote is attributed to the parties fielding outsiders in some wards.Maximum votes were polled to Congress (43.4 per cent), followed by Independents (28 per cent), SAD (14.7 per cent) and AAP (10 per cent) in Kotkapura. Congress has won 21 of 29 seats in Kotkapura, followed by five independents and three candidates of SAD.Pardeep Singla of BJP in Jaito is the sole winner of the party in the district. Vijay Kumar Chhabra, district president of BJP who had abandoned the party and joined the SAD some days back in view of farmers’ agitation against 3 farm bills, emerged winner on SAD ticket in Faridkot.In Faridkot, out of total 25 seats, 16 have been wrested by Congress, 7 by SAD, one each by AAP and independent. In Jaito, out of total 17 wards, the Congress fall beyond majority as it won only seven seats, followed by 4 by independents, 3 in SAD kitty, 2 for AAP and one for BJP.
