FIRs won’t deter us, say Sangrur protesters

Description

The farmers’ stir in front of the residence of BJP leader Satwant Singh Punia entered its 124th day today. The protesters have announced intensifying their agitation in the coming days if the central government did not repeal the farm laws. “The number of women has never receded here as they are well aware that it is their fight also. Many women have been coming here after locking their houses as their male members have gone to the Delhi borders to participate in the protest,” said Gurmale Kaur, a protester. Another woman Shinderpal Kaur said the BJP government had been registering false FIRs against farmer leaders. “But their FIRs cannot force us to end the protest,” she said. BKU (Ugrahan) leader Gobinder Singh said they were getting a good response for their agitation as the number of protesters had been increasing. “Majority of protesters have been coming on their own as they have understood that the fight against the central farm laws will go on for a long time,” he said. — TNS
