Unions’ unity frustrating Centre: BKU

Description

Bhartiya Kisan Union (Lakhowal) president Ajmer Singh Lakhowal today claimed that the Narendra Modi government was upset over the unity among agitating farmers and opposition by people of Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh to “repressive” measures being used by government agencies.“It was out of this frustration that the government had taken upon an unprecedented fortification of Delhi borders,” he told The Tribune on phone. He said thousands of farmers from northern states and other parts of the country were holding protests for the past two and half months outside Delhi in adverse weather conditions but the Modi government, rather than accepting the demand for scrapping of three farm laws, had adopted a policy of confrontation.Lakhowal said the underlying reason for fortification of borders was that the government wanted to block entire movement of people and essential items so that people in the national capital could be provoked against the farmers’ agitation. — OC
