Rain inundates farmers' tents, more trailers head to Delhi
Description
Tribune News ServiceMuktsar, January 5As rain added to the miseries of farmers lodging protest at the Delhi borders, more tractor-trailers are now being sent from here for their stay. For instance, some farmers of Gurusar village here were earlier staying in a tent pitched on a flyover at the Tikri border, but rainwater has now made it difficult for them to remain there. To help them out, two more trailers are now being sent from here.“Presently, 28 people from our village are lodging a protest at the Tikri border. They have two tractor-trailers. However, their tent and trailers are stationed at a slope, making it difficult for them to stay there during rain. Now, we are sending two more tractor-trailers and beddings for them,” said Ranjit Singh, a farmer from Gurusar village.Similarly, farmers from some other villages claimed they were sending more trailers. “Though a number of philanthropists and NGOs have made temporary stay arrangements, the number of farmers is surging and waterlogging is making things difficult. Thus, more trailers are being brought from the villages, so that maximum number of people can stay there as these are covered with tarpaulin sheets,” said Gurpreet Singh Kotli, another farmer.
