Tikait, Bhim Army chief pay tributes to Ambedkar

Description

In a significant move, Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) national spokesperson Rakesh Tikait joined hands with Bhim Army Chief Chandrashekhar Azad to pay tribute to Bhimrao Ambedkar on his 130th birth anniversary at the Ghazipur border on Wednesday. Invoking a new slogan, ‘Kisan bachao, Samvidhan Bachao’, Mr. Tikait said the present government was more interested in perpetuating the interests of companies than in respecting Babasaheb’s Constitution. ‘False impression’ “BJP people are living under a false impression that they are running the country. The reality is that some companies are controlling the show. Had there been a sensitive government, it would have engaged with the protesters against the farm laws,” he said, adding it was a fight for salvaging the farmer’s self-respect. Describing it a historic moment, Mr. Azad said he was standing with farmers in their struggle to protect their rights. He challenged the Central government that its divide and rule policy would not work any more. “The countrymen have seen through it. People are uniting to answer the tyranny and harassment that this government is inflicting upon them.” “Living is not a big thing, living with dignity matters and that is what is under threat,” asserted Mr. Azad. “Babasaheb Ambedkar used to say if the slave realises that he is living the life of a slave, he would break his shackles. Today, there has been an attack on the rights of farmers, who are the backbone of this country. They have to rise to make themselves heard,” he added. Mr. Azad had visited the protest site earlier as well when Mr. Tikait became emotional and cried after possible police action at the Ghazipur border on January 28 this year.
