Why the u-turn on farm laws, Bhatti asks KCR

Description

Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Bhatti Vikramarka has accused Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao of taking a complete opposite view on the new farm laws after his New Delhi visit and it reflects how hollow his love for the farmers was. At a press conference here, he demanded an explanation from Chief Minister on the reversal of his stand after supporting the Bharat Bandh and actively participating in it against the farm bills. He did not even visit the farmers in New Delhi protesting against the new bills. He was critical of the Central government before his New Delhi visit but took a complete reversal after that and people have a right to know the reason for his sudden change, he said. Mr. Bhatti also took exception to Mr. Rao’s statement that the State government suffered loss of Rs. 7,500 crore after purchasing paddy from farmers. He said it is the responsibility of the government to ensure farmers get support from the government and demanded that all the crops be bought by the government at the Minimum Support Price (MSP). He said the Congress party is organising a day-long dharna at the Indira Park on January 9 in support of the farmers agitating in New Delhi against the new farm bills.
